2 Days St. Catherine & Camels

2 Days St. Catherine & Camels

The short Sinai-Experience

Day 1:

Depart from Eilat hotels at 06:15 AM (Israel time), cross the border at Taba and drive through the dramatic Sinai desert to St Catherine.  Arriving there, we visit the famous St. Catherine’s Monastery, including the Church, dated back to the 6th Century and never destroyed since then, “The Burning Bush”, and “Jetro’s Well”. We continue through the desert to Ein Hudra, where our Bedouins with their camels will await you to start your camel trek. Slowly descending an ancient trail you will finally reach the Oasis of Ein Hudra where you will eat a picnic lunch with the Bedouins. In the afternoon you will have plenty of time to explore the Gardens watered by the nearby Well, and the large Palm Tree Orchards. The Bedouins will light a campfire and prepare the meal. Camp in Ein Hudra.

Day 2:

After breakfast we set out from the oasis for a hike of about 1.5 hours, including some light climbing, in the gorge called the "White Canyon". Coming out of the Canyon we visit the "Rock of Inscriptions", called so because of the numerous inscriptions in different languages left here by travelers for thousands of years. On camelbacks again we reach the "Nawamis" – some mysterious ancient burial-sites that are more than 5000 years old…!!  After a picnic lunch we will return to our starting-point where our car will wait for us to take us back to the Taba Border. After crossing the border, you will be transferred back to Eilat.
